Frequently Asked Questions

How do I program my DISH Network remote to control my TV?

If your TV is a dvd/vcr/tv combo, most universal remotes are not compatible. Most other models can be programmed using the following steps:
(Start with TV powered on)

  1. Press and hold the “SAT” button on the remote until all 4 of the lights at the top light up.
  2. Press and release the small re power button.
  3. Press and release the channel up button 1 time per second until the TV powers off.
  4. Press and release the “#” button in the lower right hand corner.

The remote should now be programmed to operate the TV. If not, repeat steps 1-4 one more time.

Why is my TV2 remote not responding?

This remote works on a UHF system. The remote doesn’t need to be in the same room as the receiver, however sometimes the uhf antenna isn’t able to get signal to the remote due to distance or obstacles.

  1. Verify that the remote has working batteries.
  2. Verify that the TV is on the proper channel and powered on.
  3. Make sure that the “SAT” button in the upper left hand corner lights up when pressing a button.
  4. Make sure that UHF antenna on the back of the receiver is secured and not obstructed. Having the receiver inside a closed cabinet or entertainment center sometimes prevents signal from reaching the TV2 remote.
  5. Using the TV2 remote at receiver location, press the power button and verify that the blue light on the receiver for TV2 powers on and off. If this happens the UHF antenna can be extended with a small coax jumper from the receiver to easily reach the remote’s signal and solve the problem.
  6. If the problem persists a technician visit may be required.

Why am I getting sound but no picture (or vise/versa)?

  1. First make sure that the receiver is powered on and the TV is on the proper channel. The receiver may need to be reset to allow new software to be downloaded.
  2. Next try a front panel reset. Press and hold the power button on the front of the receiver for approximately 10-15 seconds. The power light should flash and the receiver will power back on. You will temporarily see an “acquiring satellite signal” message while the receiver is configuring.
  3. If still not getting picture/audio a hard reset may need to be performed. This is done by removing unplugging the receiver from the wall or power strip. Let the receiver sit for at least 5 minutes before plugging it back in. If this doesn’t restore all receiver functions a technician visit may be required.

How are bills calculated?

Your first bill will arrive 5-10 days after installation. Your next bill will arrive approximately 15 days after your first bill. All subsequent bills will arrive approximately 20 days before the due date. *If you signed up with a promotion that requires payment in advance, your first bill will be for one month of service.

What are partial-month billing charges?

When you want to change your programming you don’t have to go through the hassles of waiting until the end of your billing period. If you decide to change programming in the middle of your billing period you will receive “partial-month charges” on your next bill. This means that your account will be charged or credited from the day you make the change through the end of the current billing period. Since DISH Network does not issue an interim billing statement for each programming change, all changes will be reflected on your next billing statement.

Why does DISH Network charge a receiver fee for my Standard or High Definition receiver?

The receiver fee for the first activated receiver on your account is included in your programming package price when you subscribe to qualified programming. An additional monthly receiver fee will apply for each receiver activated beyond the first: $7.00 per Solo receiver, $10.00 per Solo DVR receiver, $14.00 per Duo receiver, $17.00 per DuoDVR receiver.

What is a Service Access Fee?

The Service Access Fee is a $6.00 monthly fee applied to all accounts that do not subscribe to one of our basic programming packages. The costs we incur to deliver specialty programming are far greater than what we pay for our basic packages. This small monthly charge allows us to provide specialty programming at a reasonable price.
